I have my foot in the door!
19/08/09
At the Exhibition at the Custard Factory, I invited the CEO of Dudley Zoo, Peter Suddock and Press Officer, Jill Hitchman. They loved my work, and surprisingly, they said they had a project for me to do!Yesterday, I had the meeting, and they want me to take a photographic record of the entire site of Dudley Zoo, including the offices. They'll be making a lot of changes to the zoo over the next few years, so it's good to have photos to compare. It's my first real photography job, and I'm so excited. I start on Friday, I get a badge and everything!
I'm going to use my Dad's D300, he also has a larger range of lenses, so it's probably wise I use that camera.
I'm also going to try and sneak a few animal photos in there when I can. I haven't been to the zoo for a while (even though I was there at least twice a week back in April and May!).
I'm so excited I finally have my foot in the door, who knows what will happen after this.
I've also been contacting Wedding Photographers to see if I could possibly tag along to watch them and get just that little bit of experience. Not a lot of luck yet, but hopefully soon!
I'd also like to dabble in a bit of portraiture, especially with families, definitely a good thing to step into for business. I'm also in the process of a CRB check, so thats a little step toward wanting to do it professionally. Always useful to have one of those!
I'm really pushing myself forward right now, especially before University starts. Oh yeah, I've been given a definite place at Birmingham City University to study Visual Communications! I start in late September, and I'm a little nervous. I'm going straight into the second year, so everyone will already be settled down, but I'll be fine!
Everythings going well, and as long as I keep it up, I'll keep going forward! I'm just so excited at the moment.
